Accomplishments

Since 2010 we have:

  • Sponsored Farmers Market tables with information on carbon footprint-related subjects including energy use, insulation, voter education, transportation, food, bees and chickens, gas leaks, trees, and composting.

  • Arranged speakers on topics related to the environment

  • Planted trees with help from a grant and volunteers who watered for 3+ years

  • Sustained street trees – informed neighbors to water new nearby plantings

  • Planted more trees – through the Memory Tree Project in partnership with the City of Boston Parks Dept.

  • Started a Community Kitchen – a get together to cook & talk, including a session with Mayor Walsh

  • Sponsored movies on carbon related themes

  • Read books with a GreeningRozzie book group

  • Built garden beds and a shed with Maker Mobs

  • Worked with Neighborhoods for Climate Accountability – a coalition of neighborhood groups on election candidate questions

  • Collaborated with Greenovate for outreach on Boston’s Climate Action Plan

  • Advocated for Community Choice Energy (CCE) with BCAN and the Green Justice Coalition to increase the amount of energy Boston gets from renewables

  • Supported the Friends of Healy Field Community Garden effort

  • Informed through our website and newsletters
